Reading rooms opening hours: Richelieu-Louvois Library

'Attack level' Vigipirate plan
Until further notice:

  • Please bring a valid proof of identity to enter the library
  • The West entrance of François-Mitterrand library is closed
  • Only “cabin” baggages (55cm × 35cm × 25cm) are allowed within the BnF premises.
The public must stop at the cloakrooms before entering the reading rooms located at the Richelieu Library. Luggage lockers are available just near the entrance hall (please bring a one or two euro coin).

Open every day except Sunday

Closed on public holidays:

  • Easter Sunday and Monday
  • 1 and 8 May
  • Ascension Thursday
  • Pentecost Sunday and Monday
  • 14 July
  • 15 August
  • 1 and 11 November
  • 25 December

Annual closure of all sites in Paris (François-Mitterrand, Richelieu, Louvois, Arsenal and Opera libraries): from 3 to 11 September 2016.

To be noted

The Department of Maps and Plans is located in Room R (Research Library - Rez-de-jardin level) at François-Mitterrand Library until the reopening of its renovated spaces at Richelieu Library, planned for 2020.

Document release times

During renovation work at Richelieu Library, some collections were moved to other sites of the BnF. These documents remain available.

These specific opening hours concern the documents housed at the Richelieu Library.

Average release length: 30 to 45 minutes after the requests collection.
