Construction techniques

From materials to buildings: every phase in the construction process is covered by the engineering science collections.

The engineering science collections available at the François Mitterrand Library (Site François-Mitterrand) cover the following:

  • the study of structures
  • technical specifications and regulations
  • different types of construction (concrete, wood, steel, brickwork, etc.)
  • structural shell and finishings
  • technical fittings (insulation, carpentry, plumbing, heating, surface materials and finishings, etc.)
  • maintenance and restoration

The Reference library includes almost 500 open-access books and technical journals on this subject. Most of these publications are in French and intended for professionals and students. Most of the open-access materials available in the Research library are in English; in particular, they include conference papers and studies of materials.

In particular, closed-stack collections include technical and regulatory publications such as unified technical documents published by the Scientific and Technical Building Center (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment/CSTB) and standards published by the French Organization for Standardization (Agence Française de Normalisation/AFNOR) (these standards cannot be photocopied).
