The Research library has a large amount of material on education around the world and in France, both in French and in foreign languages. For France, the Library’s old collections include lycée league tables and a large amount of historical educational material: treatises, dictionaries, and textbooks. Examples of available materials include the directory of Manuels scolaires en France de 1789 à nos jours, published in various disciplines, and the Dictionnaire de pédagogie et d'instruction primaire sous la direction de Ferdinand Buisson, 1887.
The Research library’s collections also include old journals such as the Journal des instituteurs et des institutrices, as well as leading foreign educational journals such as the American Educational Research Journal and the British Educational Research Journal.
The Reference library offers studies, mainly in French, on education in France: curricula, debates on schooling, material on contemporary educationalists, educational sciences, books on the teaching profession, reference tools, etc. It also holds the journals Histoire de l'éducation and Revue française de pédagogie.
