Portrait of Auguste Comte. Tony Toullion. (Album of portraits of Saint-Simonians.)

In their open-access collections, as well as general studies on the philosophy of science categorized by major historical period (ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary), both the Reference library and the Research library offer a collection focused on epistemology and knowledge theory (Erkenntnistheorie). This collection is built around a “corpus” of philosophers of science – a collection of material that includes both works by philosophers and critical studies of their work. The philosophers covered include Auguste Comte, Michel Foucault, Karl Popper, Ludwig Wittgenstein, etc.

For the modern period, the emphasis is on logical positivism, the philosophers of the Circle of Vienna, and closely related movements.
