Europe's cultural heritage online

Europeana Collections, the European digital library, provides access to more than 53 million digital items emblematic of the European heritage.

Initiated in 2005 by the French president and five other heads of state and European governments, Europeana Collections provides access to digitised items from over 3 300 institutions (libraries, archives, museums and audiovisual collections) and allows you to explore the history of Europe from Antiquity to the present day.

It is currently the largest, although not the sole, cultural project on the continental scale.
