The business world (PRISME)

BnF is the official partner of the CCIP, providing documentary support to those planning to start up in business.

The Business Resources and Information Center (Pôle de ressources et d’information sur le monde de l’entreprise/PRISME), located in the Reference library, brings together a collection of both paper and digital materials for business use.

Market research covers all sectors of industry, retail, services, and crafts in France and a large number of foreign countries, and even at a global level. Market research is sourced from the following:

• major French and international research firms (Eurostaf, Xerfi / Precepta, Euromonitor, Idate, MSI, Benchmark Group, etc.)
• commercial and institutional publishers (Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Paris, Ubifrance, Agence pour la création d’entreprises, etc.)
• industry bodies (Institut français de la mode, IFLS – industrie commerce, etc.)

Company information includes the following:

• business directories, both general and by business sector (Kompass, Ficom, Stratégies, etc.)
• online financial analysis via a large number of databases covering French and foreign businesses (DafsaLiens, the Orbis portal: Diane, Amadeus, Bankscope, Zephyr, etc.)
• company profiles produced by analysis firms (Datamonitor, Euromonitor, Xerfi, etc.)

The professional press provides up-to-date information on business sectors and businesses:

• 200 business, economics, and finance titles on paper, supplemented by electronic periodicals
• databases providing access to article references or the full text of articles on specific topics: Delphes, Europresse, Factiva, Business Source Complete, etc.

A selection of practical documents is more specifically aimed at meeting the expectations of those seeking employment and starting up in business. These documents cover the following:

• jobs, training, and job-seeking techniques
• business start-up tools and niche sectors

As part of the Library’s reader training initiatives, introductory workshops on library collections on finding work and starting up in business are arranged for those seeking employment and those planning to start businesses.
