The fights of the Editions de Minuit: in the library of Jérôme and Annette Lindon

Exhibition

from October 9, 2018 to December 9, 2018 François-Mitterrand / Donors’ gallery

Jérôme Lindon ran the Éditions de Minuit from 1948 until his death, in 2001. With his wife Annette, he developed a unanimously acknowledged catalogue thanks to passionate and exigent reading. Their three children - Irène, André and Mathieu – donated to the Bibliothèque nationale de France the autographed books belonging to their parents. These books tell the human adventure they lived at the Éditions de Minuit, according to their aesthetic and political commitments. Jérôme and Annette Lindon struggled together to make this publishing house live and serve literature, justice and freedom. This exhibition pays tribute to the ambition and requirements of a publisher’s work that left its mark in the intellectual life of the second half of the 20th century.
