UNIMARC format

All of the bibliographic services and products supplied by the BnF enable one to download bibliographic and authority records in UNIMARC.
The data is first created in INTERMARC in the catalogue général de la BnF, and then converted into UNIMARC. The converted data respects the structure of the UNIMARC Manual such as it was designed by IFLA at the international level, while retaining the richness of the data originally created in INTERMARC so that it can be optimally reused in local catalogs.

Agreement for:

  • Formats' reading offered to downloading
    A summary of the most important changes done into the previous versions can be found at the beginning of each format and in the text the alterations are highligned to make easier their identification.

  • Records tranfer
    Additions or modifications to IFLA’s UNIMARC bibliographic and authority formats are clearly noticeable, and customers may keep them or ignore them, according to their needs.
