UNIMARC export format

All of the bibliographic services and products supplied by the BnF enable one to download bibliographic and authority records in UNIMARC.
The data is first created in INTERMARC in the Catalogue général de la BnF, and then converted into UNIMARC. The converted data respects the structure of the UNIMARC Manual such as it was designed by IFLA at the international level, while retaining the richness of the data originally created in INTERMARC so that it can be optimally reused in local catalogs.

The BnF's UNIMARC B export format updated in November 2015 contains the successive evolutions of the format (creations, modifications and suppressions) occurred since October 2006.
The main evolutions are as follows :
  • the enrichment of the description of serial publications
  • the addition of ISNI ($o) in the responsibility fields (7XX)
  • the source of the links to works downloaded in the Catalogue général de la BnF from
  • a field for critical comment from the Joie par les livres Association (JPL)
An appendix document lists all the changes occurred between 2006 and 2015. The changes are emphasized by the mention "Mise à jour 2015".
