A digital library has the same goals as a traditional library:
- to provide access to materials
- to help users find and make use of relevant resources
Document digitization leads to a greater range of both access methods and access levels.
Once access methods and levels have been defined, the selected search engine must be configured and digitally-generated files and data must be processed in such a way that they can be made available for online searching and viewing.
These various user services are delivered via interfaces whose design encompasses graphical, ergonomic, and accessibility aspects.
