The Preservation Division offers services for external institutions, libraries and archives, as part of its various production activities.

Services and expert reports: Analysis

The main role of BnF’s scientific and technical laboratory is to provide assistance and advice to staff responsible for preserving collections – curators and restorers belonging to BnF and agreed partner libraries – as well as to respond to requests from other institutions.

Current hourly rate: €54.25 + VAT
(Includes labor and supplies; all services are subject to quotation at the applicable VAT rate as at the invoice date, and include the preparation of an analysis report.)

  • Chemical and physical analysis

    • Advice, analysis, and quality control on materials forming part of packaging and equipment used for document preservation and storage
    • Environmental checks
    • Inorganic chemistry (salts, metals, pigments, etc.)
