Ordering Reproductions

Before placing an order

Prior approval and the payment of use fees are required for any public use of reproductions of materials held in BnF collections.

Because of the large number of orders received, the Reproduction Department is unable to perform extensive bibliographic or image searches.

This service provides reproductions on an "as is" basis and cannot be held responsible for imperfections or possible omissions in the documents.

How to place orders

Send your order using the order form or writing to the Reproduction Department (département de la Reproduction) by postal mail, fax, or e-mail, or submit it in person at one of our two service desks :

• Each order is recorded and assigned an identification number corresponding to the department holding the collection.
• You should provide detailed bibliographic references and specify the kind of service and format you prefer.

An estimate is established for these services. Each new photographic exposure requires prior approval from the conservation manager of the department holding the collection.

You can also place orders through the Picture Collections (Banque d'images) of the Reproduction Department. A single estimate is issued immediately, regardless of the original department of the document reproduced. For the fastest processing, you are invited to pay your order online (delivery in 5 working days).

Express Service

One-hour  A4 prints or digital images from Picture Collection materials are available at BnF’s reproduction desk (François-Mitterrand Library).
