The BnF’s Paris sites will be closed for the annual closure from Monday 31 August to Sunday 6 September 2026 included

Richelieu and Opéra Library and Museum sites

All areas of the BnF will be closed to the public from Monday 31 August to Sunday 6 September included; they will reopen on the afternoon of Monday 7 September.

Please note: the Labrouste Room (INHA) and the ENC library are also closed to the public from 31 August and will reopen on Friday 4 September.

François-Mitterrand site

All areas will be closed to the public from Monday 31 August to Sunday 6 September included; the Research Library will reopen on Monday 7 September in the afternoon, and the General Public Library on Tuesday 8 September..

Arsenal Library site

The site is closed to the public from Monday 31 August to Monday 7 September included; it reopens to the public on Tuesday 8 September.

Please note: some IT services may experience disruptions during this period.

Why an annual closure?

This annual closure period allows for the completion of library-related work (organising and maintaining collections, inventories, stock-taking, repackaging campaigns, etc.), technical work (building maintenance and upkeep, IT, etc.) and refurbishment projects that cannot be carried out whilst the public is present at the BnF’s Paris sites (François-Mitterrand, Richelieu, Arsenal Library and Opéra Library and Museum).
