Participation de la BnF au congrès de l’IFLA 2023

“Let’s work together. Let’s library” est le thème du 88^e congrès de l’IFLA (Fédération internationale des associations de bibliothécaires et des bibliothèques) qui se déroule du 21 au 25 août à Rotterdam aux Pays-Bas 

Rendez-vous annuel phare de la profession, ce congrès rassemble plusieurs milliers de participants issus du monde entier. Il est par ailleurs précédé de réunions satellites  se tenant sur une à deux journées. Au-delà de l’actualité des bibliothèques et de la stratégie de l’IFLA, c’est  là un moment unique fait de rencontres et de découvertes professionnelles.

Une délégation d’agents de la BnF, élus dans diverses sections, participe aux rencontres suivantes :

• Conférence satellite “Strengthening libraries emergency preparedness and response” (à Amsterdam) de la section Préservation et conservation, 17-18 août
• Conférence satellite “The Building Journey” (à Gand) de la section Bâtiments et équipement de la bibliothèque, 17-18 août
• Conférence satellite “Inclusiveness through Openness” de la section Bibliothèques universitaires et de recherche, 18-19 août
• Conférence satellite “Universal Bibliographic Control at the crossroads: the challenges of unifying IFLA bibliographic standards” (à Bruxelles) de la section Bibliographie, 18-19 août
• Conférence satellite “Young Children’s Journeys into Reading: Early Literacy Stories” (à La Haye) de la section Bibliothèques pour enfants et jeunes adultes, 19 août
• Session “National Bibliographies Today” de la section Bibliographie, 21 août
• Poster session, 21-22 août
• Session “21st-century description for heritage collections: changing perspectives, changing language, changing cultures” de la section Livres rares et collections spécialisées, 22 août
• Session “Libraries Open Windows to the World: Children’s Picture Book Programs for Family Inclusion” de la section Bibliothèques pour enfants et jeunes adultes, 22 août
• Session “Hot topics: From Gutenberg to ChatGPT: Will AI Change the Mission of Academic and Research Libraries?” de la section Bibliothèques universitaires et de recherche, 22 août

“Let’s work together. Let’s library” is the theme of the 88^th IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) Congress, taking place from 21 to 25 August in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. 

The congress is the key meeting for all librarians bringing together thousands of  participants from all over the world. It is preceded by one or two days of satellite meetings. In addition to learning about the latest trends and IFLA’s strategy, it is also an opportunity to meet new colleagues and learn about the latest professional advancements.

As in previous years, a delegation of the BnF staff elected in various sections will be taking part in the following meetings:

• Satellite conference “Strengthening libraries emergency preparedness and response” (in Amsterdam) organised by the Preservation and Conservation section, 17-18 August
• Satellite conference “The Building Journey” (Ghent) organised by the Library Buildings and Equipment section, 17-18 August
• Satellite conference “Inclusiveness through Openness« organised by the University and Research Libraries section, 18-19 August
• Satellite conference “Universal Bibliographic Control at the crossroads: the challenges of unifying IFLA bibliographic standards” (in Brussels) organised by the Bibliography section, 18-19 August
• Satellite conference “Young Children’s Journeys into Reading: Early Literacy Stories” (in The Hague) of the Libraries for Children and Young Adults section, 19 August
• Session “National Bibliographies Today” from the Bibliography section, 21 August
• Poster session, 21-22 August
• Session “21st-century description for heritage collections: changing perspectives, changing language, changing cultures” of the Rare Books and Special Collections section, 22 August
• Session “Libraries Open Windows to the World: Children’s Picture Book Programs for Family Inclusion” from the Libraries for Children and Young Adults section, 22 August
